Homemade Yoghurt with Powdered Milk

Homemade yoghurt is one of the easiest recipes you can try even if you've never done anything DIY before. I'm almost certain that you won't make a mess of it because of how easy it is. Good thing is you get to spend a little and make so much yoghurt to everyone's taste. You'll also be able to control how much sweetener goes in, or you can completely do away with sweeteners if you wish.

Once you make yoghurt at home, you'll not want to buy from the stores again.

Prep: 15 minutes

wait time: up to 8 hours

2 1/2 cups of water

3 Tablespoons of plain yogurt with live cultures. Check the list of ingredients to be sure.

2 cups of  powdered milk

In a pot, add milk and water. Mix thoroughly using a whisk. You can also use a blender.

Heat the milk to 112°C. If you don't have a thermometer, simply turn off the heat just before it starts boiling.

Cool milk to about 40°C, not cold or hot. You want the same  temperature for proving yeast. You can use insert your finger to feel.

Mix in 3 tablespoons of plain yoghurt into the warm milk, mix well.

Pour mixture into a plastic container and cover tightly with a lid.

Place yogurt mixture in a warm environment, undisturbed for about 8 hours. You can turn on an oven for 2minutes and turn off, before putting your yoghurt. Just look for or create a warm environment.

You can check after 4 hours, to ensure yoghurt is setting.

You may notice a small amount of whey on top of your yoghurt, simply discard that.

What you will have is creamy thick Yoghurt.

Chill yoghurt in the fridge and add sweeteners, fruits and other toppings of your choice.

Enjoy your delicious creamy, thick homemade yoghurt.
